Introduction
ADECOR (Association pour la Defense des Droits de consommateurs Au Rwanda) is committed to improving health and nutrition outcomes in the Rubavu, Nyabihu, and Musanze districts. The ADECOr’s aims is to educating communities, especially women, on essential nutrition through the establishment of Nutrition Field Farmer Schools (NFFS) and Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs.
Objectives
ADECOR aims to enhance nutrition awareness and practices within the target districts by:
• Educating women and households about essential nutrition.
• Promoting and establishing Nutrition Field Farmer Schools (NFFS) to provide
hands-on learning experiences.
• Integrating nutrition education into ECD programs.

1. Target Audience
Primary Focus:
• Women, as primary caregivers and decision-makers regarding household nutrition.
• Broader Engagement: Households and the entire community to foster a supportive environment for nutrition practices.
2. Educational Focus
- Essential Nutrition:
- Teach the significance of key nutrients (proteins, vitamins, minerals) and the components of a balanced diet.
- Utilize visual aids and practical demonstrations to enhance understanding.
- Good Cooking Practices:
- Empower communities with practical skills for preparing healthy meals using locally available ingredients.
- Promote the importance of food safety and hygiene in meal preparation.
3. Community Engagement
- Nutrition Field Farmer Schools (NFFS):
- Collaborate with schools to integrate nutrition education into their curricula.
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences for students, including gardening and meal preparation.
- Community Workshops:
- Organize sessions that demonstrate healthy cooking techniques and share valuable nutrition information.
- Create a forum for community members to discuss nutrition-related challenges and solutions.
- Engagement with Media Groups:
- Partner with local media to amplify nutrition messages and increase awareness in the community.
- Utilize radio, local newspapers, and social media to reach a wider audience.
Implementation Strategies
